The Maktoum City.. Forever Guilty!

Try to picture my words while you read because what I’m sharing today is pretty serious and far from theatrical. If we fail the Expo 2020 bid I will be heartbroken like a teen boy, might have few maniacal breakdowns – the Ramsay way or just shockingly but yet calmly shave off my head exactly like Ms. Britney. Don’t be scared, wait, don’t go anywhere. Allow me to explain the reasons behind such a potential hysterical tantrum. Well, when things come down to my city Dubai, I flip and go all-personal. As a Dubaian, I have this natural victorious gene that can by the way easily get on your nerves. As a matter of fact sometimes I feel that I can never be defeated because I’m destined to win, like seriously I’m Dubai!!!! Okaiiih, my city obviously had its own share of blue jazzy moments you know during the 08 financial crises, but clearly nothing has stopped its drive to compete and go for nothing but gold. Call me names, crazy or arrogant prick, it doesn’t really matter. What matters in this post is why we should receive the winning ticket on a golden plate.

With all respect to Continue reading…

Why Terry Jones is a Security threat

Before it gets really hot, I feel the need to make two points very clear. First, as a Muslim and Arab I do not support any sort of attacks against unarmed civilians regardless of their faith, skin color and nationality (unless its a legal self-defense situation e.g. war ). And second, I’m disgusted from the very well organized bashing strategy against Muslims and Arabs throughout our very dear western media channels. I mean seriously, when will O’Reilly and the rest of the gang grow up and let go? As I look at it, it seems to me the western media and their hardcore commentators have one mission: bash anything, everything and everyone Arab and Muslim.  For them , Arabs and Muslims will never be good enough. No matter what we accomplish or try to do, we will always be those who got lucky because of their oil and 123.

Have you not watched the Dictator movie by the famous Baron Cohen, who by the way happens to be Jewish? The Dictator movie (which clearly depicts an Arab and Muslim character) is a typical Hollywood propaganda which was smartly released at the peak of the Arab Continue reading…

Who enjoys stripping at JF Kennedy anyways!?

Nothing new, things on social media do usually get hairy but the whole UAE dress code topic is getting out of its zone. From an innocent call for modesty to violent responses and lots of dogs and cats fights, who to blame? I would say every ignorant national and expatriate living in the UAE. Both parties are somehow failing to handle the dress code dilemma properly and insisting to act childishly about it.

Okay its time to let it all out. Not sure if you’ve noticed here and there, but for some crazy reason a good % of expatriates are deliberately ignoring “cultural sensitivities” in the Emirates.  I use the word “deliberately” because majority of them have been warned about certain facts concerning the UAE traditions, nature of dress code, common values, religion and practices, etc.  Ironically many seem not to give a fly about the dos and donts, and sadly are being casual about some rules and regulations or possibly acting naive.

Come on, we all at a point of time saw this loose skin TOPLESS white woman happily sunbathing at Jumeirah beach park. I’m sorry but why do we need to deal with such horrific scenes? Flashing your ( ) ( Continue reading…

Why I’m Single

She’s big personality, confident, successful, ambitious, educated, I believe fairly good looking, etc … But yeah why?!

Is it too late? Hell no

I honestly believe that labeling a single woman who’s in her late 20s or 30s as a spinster is no longer relevant. Am I single by choice? I’d say absolutely yes. In any case, this piece of thought is general and not specifically about me. Trust me, there are thousands of Emarati women out there who have decided to wisely wait and not ride the first train stop. Ironically, as women i.e. not the alpha male , we have been taught from a very young age that once the train passes by, you either jump or kiss it goodbye. Not to forget, our eggs are wasted and yeah we’ll no longer be fertile. Exactly, women in the Arab world are pressurized by a brutally judgmental society to marry, produce few dozens, nurture till death knocks their doors.

What I find extremely bizarre is the way that our society keeps promoting a very outdated rationale about why women aren’t getting married as quickly as they used to do. Here is the magic word and obviously Continue reading…

Freedom is mother evil

I fancy a bulldog. It could lead to a loving marriage … I can’t wait to make some hybrids hmm believe you me!

Today freedom clearly clashes with mother- nature and disconnects from the norms. Almost everyone holds tight to it, well to obviously justify their actions. Every now and then I bump into – I swear some crazy individuals who fiercely and with so much passion discuss freedom, rights, reforms and the list goes on and on – as if they got some hidden chains around their necks. What scares me the most is those radical ones who argue how the notion of sin is variable and might not be as bad as we all think because it depends. In their little heads, sin is more of making a choice which one person should be responsible of , and feel free to live with for the rest of their lives …because the world is no longer enslaved and we are all free.

But  hey what about others? Its not like we live in individual caves anymore?!

I swear, its aint saggy yet!

Frankly, for the first time in my life I’m feeling uncomfortable with the Continue reading…

Arab Women=Bed & Breakfast

As my nude title indicates Arab women or let’s say many Arab women scattered across our masculine globe feel like nothing but bed and breakfast. Obviously its not a fancy title to die for but in reality its very much how women feel. Some of us feel like tagged possessions with pulse, and some other look at themselves like designed creatures to perfection. Well you can say creatures with a defined scope of work which is in summary:  to fulfill their men’s hunger in beds and on plates. Boring!

Excuse my undressed thoughts but sometimes a bit of flesh is a must in order to spot out the many defects in ourselves and beloved society.  Men or some good number of similar creatures to men have repeatedly proved to be a failure in understanding what we women really want. I’m not referring to bed fantasies, Belgium chocolate and exotic fruits in some hotel room. Oh no no, that would be what many useless men assume. A woman is an ultra-sensitive creature who is unfortunately repetitively being pressurized by some weird external factors which are to 1 OBEY, 2 LISTEN and 3 NEVER EXPRESS.

The moment poor women express how they truly feel, Continue reading…

Arab Men, how about a reality spank on your signature baldheads!

Just if you’re wondering, YES, I did take a quite damn long break from stripping off my thoughts in public … its winter after all. In any case, you’ve landed on my page so let’s start with hello, its me and I’m totally back.

Lately I’ve been thinking about Arab men and women.  Between the two I’m struggling to decide who the victim is and who is not! You and I know how Arab women are under what I believe is a severe psychological and physical pressure to perfect their beings for let’s be honest men. We all come across women from different sizes who’ll starve themselves for months and run miles in whatever marathon to not fit in their favorite pair of jeans or do well in their societies but to simply keep their men visually aroused.  Is it a surprise? Let’s not pretend …

The idea of perfection isn’t bad, but the fact that women are perfecting themselves to lock down men requires a shrink. Let’s imagine that you and I are having a quality walk in one of the shopping malls or any busy place. Look around carefully … observe… do you see what I see? Dozens of average Continue reading…

I die for the uae to live

In the memory of an unarmed warrior.. prophetic spirit and devoted nationalist. In the memory of a contender..  peacemaker and a nature protector.  In the memory of an eternal stream of wisdom.. immortal human being. In the memory of a heavy weight legacy.. champion and everything good possible. In the memory of my father, the father of the nation, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. I thank him for today, yesterday and everyday. I thank him for being around in every corner, every street, school, hospital and home. I thank him for December 2nd and memories to come!

Zayed’s physical departure still aches every palm, raindrop.. It aches the hearts of the heavens and the worlds. Emaraties refuse to goodbye Zayed.  I refuse. Goodbye Zayed is impossible, how is it possible when everybody sees him in Khalifa?

Today we are living Sheikh Khalifa’s success stories. If I pause for a minute and gaze at neighboring countries, every inch of me realizes how blessed I am to be identified as nothing but an Emarati. Being an Emarati doesn’t mean loads of  profit free cash, bling bling and mansions. It means being sincerely looked after in every way possible.

The UAE’s horizontal leadership spirit provides the nation with Continue reading…

WHY I DO IT DIRTY

For your record this post was submitted and published – Nov 19th pm time , on thinkup.ae as a contribution piece .. now you can read!

When it comes down to writing I do really suck at it. I don’t claim to be a Harper Lee or J Rowling, but I do have this magical stick that is so good at pressing people’s buttons, and that is exactly why I’ve decided to blog. I do it in a very authentic subtle way and blog my heart out to crack this spark and form a connection with everything and everyone Arab from all classes, faiths and colors.

I have strong thoughts and opinions about things that matter to others and me. Sometimes I wish if I have the ability to shut up and drive. I sincerely find it so difficult to keep my thoughts locked. How can anyone promote mind slavery? Triggering, pushing, disturbing or making someone happy through my lines is better than adding nothing on the table. I don’t blog for the sake of blogging, I blog to minimize the gap, the current gap in the Emarati or Arab blogging world.

Unfortunately, majority of people in the Arab region don’t Continue reading…

Arabs Can’t Fail Hypocrisy 101

Maybe math, physics or cooking, but we Arabs can’t fail mastering the art of everyday hypocrisy.  I’m kind of sure all other races do the whole double standard thing flawlessly, but lets say I’m for now concerned about my culture, the Arab culture. What makes a culture anyways? People … and our people nowadays do really suck in so many nasty ways. You disagree? I’ll share with you some honey.

Only in Arabia your family name is more important than your sweaty resume. And guess what’s more important than your goddamn last name? Your balance sheet i.e. the steady growth of your bank account. With full honesty “no polishing whatsoever” your ethics and positive outlook mean nothing or at least come second to heavy notes, pile of cash, loads of money. Are you following? I’m talking triple 0 times 12 or more.   Take a deep breath, and hey don’t you worry. Sometimes all you need to be accepted is a nice house, sexy car that is more expensive than your “house” and good contacts or just contacts that know those good contacts who you can a** kiss whenever you can and whenever you want to hit the jack!

Technically, thats how we Continue reading…
