Try to picture my words while you read because what I’m sharing today is pretty serious and far from theatrical. If we fail the Expo 2020 bid I will be heartbroken like a teen boy, might have few maniacal breakdowns – the Ramsay way or just shockingly but yet calmly shave off my head exactly like Ms. Britney. Don’t be scared, wait, don’t go anywhere. Allow me to explain the reasons behind such a potential hysterical tantrum. Well, when things come down to my city Dubai, I flip and go all-personal. As a Dubaian, I have this natural victorious gene that can by the way easily get on your nerves. As a matter of fact sometimes I feel that I can never be defeated because I’m destined to win, like seriously I’m Dubai!!!! Call me names, crazy or arrogant prick, it doesn’t really matter. What matters in this post is why we should receive the winning ticket on a golden plate.

With all respect to Turkey, Thailand and all my dear candidates, I believe they are not as good as my hometown, Dubai. No hard feelings, but the Maktoum city has successfully positioned itself as a city for all. Dubai was born with the X factor which many young and old places that probably existed before Jesus lack. No joke, I have visited number of progressive places around the globe. Yes, many are well-groomed and more but all are equally lacking the X factor that is well embedded in Dubai. What makes Dubai a natural winner – is its exotic cosmopolitan profile that will never EVEN be artificially conceived elsewhere. And to make myself clear, I’m not talking about the breathtaking taking skyline, social spots in the Burj down town, narrow semi open walk paths in the DIFC village, all man-made islands or our busy old markets scattered around the Emirate. Oh absolutely no!

The city’s cosmopolitan spirit goes back to its foundations. My handsome dad who was fortunate enough to communicate with Dubai’s founder Shk Rashid Bin Saeed across number of years and way before the union itself, keeps repeating with so much passion how Dubai now is not different from Dubai during the 50s, 60s, 70s etc. He told me once, “The late Shk Rashid Bin Saeed enjoyed a progressive cosmopolitan outlook which attracted so many people to the city and who now call it home. He was clear about how he wanted Dubai to be and made sure to involve everyone regardless of their origins”. Dad’s words have made me think deeply about the real X factor we enjoy over other places and for sure the 2020 candidates.

Dubai’s creative culture is driven by rich diversity and openness, which by default places the city ahead than others – somewhere in the top between Mars and Venus or so. Such diversity pushes for the creation of beautiful initiatives across variety of things like music, art, culture, gastronomy, fashion, etc. And what’s really cool is how any of these initiatives are very relevant to all – whether Jack or Saeed, Anil or Dima, or Shaikha or Anna. Everyone can contribute in a way and everyone is part of Dubai’s success.

The recipe of Dubai’s success is not salt or sugar, its diversity and all the matchless things that come with it. If you bother to see beyond, you’ll see how the Maktoum city has more to share with the world than just the tallest tower or its WI FI supported metro line that even a city like London lacks. I’m not here to say other Expo candidates don’t deserve a victory. After all competition is healthy and we live to compete in order to raise the bar, inspire and add great value!

Dubai is now living its 2020 and it has all it takes to host any grand event – from modern infrastructure, beautiful hotels, clean streets, world-class airports and transportation system to the X factor, people. Winning the Expo 2020 bid will be a huge milestone and hosting such an event will allow exhibitors and visitors to experience a smaller version of the universe – Dubai, The United Arab Emirates!

We shall win and we’ll be forever guilty of fame …

Before it gets really hot, I feel the need to make two points very clear. And second, I’m disgusted from the very well organized bashing strategy against Muslims and Arabs throughout our very dear western media channels. No matter what we accomplish or try to do, we will always be those who got lucky because of their oil and 123.

Have you not watched the Dictator movie by the famous Baron Cohen, who by the way happens to be Jewish? The Dictator movie (which clearly depicts an Arab and Muslim character) is a typical Hollywood propaganda which was smartly released at the peak of the Arab Spring. Producing movies like the Dictator doesn’t require much talent. You’ll know what I mean once you watch it! The movie shows Arabs as filthy rich barbarians, sex addicts, urine drinkers and goat-lovers. I have to say the urine consumption thing takes the misconception to a whole new level. Can you imagine generations of westerns being exposed to such fabricated and dirty content during their full life cycle? Pretty sad. Anyways let’s move on and turn the table for a moment and imagine Cohen playing a role of a fanatic Jewish settler while of course maintaining the same spirit of the Dictator film. Hmm exactly he wouldn’t dare and allow me to confirm I bet on it.

I believe the western world needs to comprehend with an open mind that such highly promoted false information (which is obviously packaged as free speech) will never demolish the increasing gap between the west and the east. As a matter of fact it increases it badly, want some evidence? Gaze at the current affairs. The recent anti-American dilemma across the Middle East is a clear result of one thing, accumulated hate. I’m talking about a severe hate here that is similar to maybe a horrible 3rd degree tumor which by the way has been growing for years and years. This growing tumor is becoming bigger and bigger because A. its not getting the right treatment, and B. its not being properly addressed.

People like Terry Jones and Nakoula Basseley are abusing their rights to express by enticing hatred and feeling of unjust among 2.6 billion Muslims. Can you imagine how serious it is to physiologically bully 2.6 billon people over and over? Funny thing the oppressor keeps waving the free speech flag and encourages the weak minds to carry on the exact hatful steps. If we analyze objectively most of produced content from the western world, anybody with a rightful mind would say yeah Muslims, Arabs and easterns have been subjected to unfair and biased media. Its no brainer!

But here is the thing, I’ve read few comments here and there concerning westerns’ views about the recent released amateur film and same have triggered me to publish whatever you’re reading now. Well I know for sure that the views I read don’t represent the entire western nation, but I can comfortably say many reflect the majority. A very good % of all comments criticized Muslims for lacking sense of humor because we usually don’t condemn religions or religious figures in any of our produced content. And by the way, we don’t find drinking urine or fantasizing goats funny and we certainly don’t find mocking Jesus in the middle of Times Square appropriate.

The notion of religion might not be a big deal in western societies but it is in Arabia and other eastern cultures. Just to confirm, I’m not saying Arabs whether Muslims or Christians are saints, absolutely not. As a matter of fact many of us have shortfalls and so. But the major difference between us and the western world is one thing, our value-system. Our value-system (which is by the way a core part of our DNA) forbids mocking others for their religious beliefs and behaviors. When Terry Jones says I’m not insulting Muslims, I’m only condemning Islam, I think the old man got his calculation wrong.

In Eastern cultures faith or religion is not a complimentary component. I’m afraid to break the news to America’s most hateful preacher TJ that religion regulates our living. You mock Jesus pbuh in the Philippines, you might get jailed. You bad mouth Hinduism in India, you’ll probably won’t make it home and if you mock Mohammed pbuh things might get really on fire. I’m not sure if you recall when Lebanon banned not long time ago Lady Gaga’s Born this way album, specifically following her famous Jesus video. Such a ban reflects the value- system of Lebanon and its Christian community. If you believe that the ban was to restrict freedom of expression, mate you’re wrong. The ban was simply put forward to protect what is considered as sacred to others. I’m not sure if westerns will ever comprehend such a principle, I hope they do because many including corporates and governments protect the sanctity of the holocaust.

I believe like any other practice, free speech has to be regulated or else bullying would have been endorsed as a way to express. Google’s management has refused to pull out Nakoula’s amateur garbage from the internet because it clashes with its principles and work ethics. So in a very simple language the western world shouldn’t expect 2.6 billion Muslims to embrace content that breaks the core of their DNA. I guess I can borrow Hilary Clinton’s verbal expression, was it senseless?

You know triggering feelings of anger among a population of 2.6 BILLION by burning the Quran and promoting a low quality film is not exactly a party. I’m not sure how Terry Jones got the title “Pastor” because the old man is certainly a security threat!

Okay its time to let it all out. Not sure if you’ve noticed here and there, but for some crazy reason a good % of expatriates are deliberately ignoring “cultural sensitivities” in the Emirates. I use the word “deliberately” because majority of them have been warned about certain facts concerning the UAE traditions, nature of dress code, common values, religion and practices, etc. Ironically many seem not to give a fly about the dos and donts, and sadly are being casual about some rules and regulations or possibly acting naive.

Come on, we all at a point of time saw this loose skin TOPLESS white woman happily sunbathing at Jumeirah beach park. I’m sorry but why do we need to deal with such horrific scenes? Flashing your ( ) ( ) in public do fall under what i call public disturbance, and outlaws should be reported and penalized for such violations.

Also I have to say that I’m pretty triggered about some aggressive comments posted on social media concerning calls for modesty. The whole dress code issue has turned to a religious debate, a very silly debate that is being packaged as a risk factor that might clash with freedom of choice and expression. Seriously since when reasonable regulations are threats? Based on my humble knowledge regulations are meant to regulate and put things in order whether we like them or not.

As long as expatriates aren’t subjected to any sort of abuse, I’d say they better accept the Emirati set of rules with lots of love. Who said we enjoy stripping at JF Kennedy anyways?

I’d like to also highlight that expatriates shouldn’t feel threatened about calls for modesty. Maybe they should be more concerned about laws that might have negative impact on their safety, well modesty isn’t one. From the bottom of my heart, I urge fellow residing foreigners to mingle and enjoy their time with nationals in order to better understand the nature of the country and feel part of it. Trust me we don’t bite.

Btw it has nothing to do with the post!

As for my Emirati sisters and brothers, listen I won’t sugar coat facts and yes I’m ashamed of how badly some of you have addressed the whole dress code matter. Some comments were terrifying and inappropriate like hey expatriates we’ll cancel some visas. Cancel what, we aren’t living in the 80s, hello its a very different world and Babu is no longer the same, (yanee ma fee khoof).

Frankly I’m intimidated by such provocative calls which threaten the image of our civilized society. You know, when things are electrified, responsible Emiratis should consider some pull and not push back strategy. Today expatriates are part of our society and in every aspect that you might think of, so let’s not create barriers and group hug! And just to be clear, a dress code law should ideally target nationals who at times do wear inappropriate styles, I bet you know what I’m talking about ^_^ !

Bottomline a call for inner and outer modesty in the UAE society is simply great. Is it really hard to keep our private areas for ourselves?

Trust me, there are thousands of Emarati women out there who have decided to wisely wait and not ride the first train stop. Exactly, women in the Arab world are pressurized by a brutally judgmental society to marry, produce few dozens, nurture till death knocks their doors.

Ironically, as women i.e. not the alpha male , we have been taught from a very young age that once the train passes by, you either jump or kiss it goodbye. Not to forget, our eggs are wasted and yeah we’ll no longer be fertile. Exactly, women in the Arab world are pressurized by a brutally judgmental society to marry, produce few dozens, nurture till death knocks their doors.

What I find extremely bizarre is the way that our society keeps promoting a very outdated rationale about why women aren’t getting married as quickly as they used to do. Here is the magic word and obviously number one (promoted) reason of growing spinsters in our societies tarararaaa “dowry” or as we say almahar. I have to say, I beg to differ! Why blame it on the dowry? It is not the high dowry that keeps many women in the UAE or other Arab societies single, not at all. But its actually the fact that we women have now unlimited opportunities and our lives – thankfully – don’t only revolve around men.

Just to be clear, YES, we do fancy men and we love having conversations with them in whatever professional environment (especially the good looking ones hehe JK!). And, I’m not saying that we’re no longer interested in having our own families and loving partners, we do, but unfortunately it is not enough. I’m sorry to break the news … Women in the Emarati society have changed and progressed along with the nation’s growth. Many knowledgeable women aging between late 20s and early 30s are very hesitant to jeopardize their freedom or give up their time for mediocre lifetime partners. Women are now artists, entrepreneurs, volunteers, academics, ministers and technically do run the world. And yes, finding compatible future husbands who can comprehend our growing ambition can actually be a bit challenging and sometimes time consuming.

I sincerely want to encourage men to humbly take some quality time to recognize and positively understand the changing psychology of women. I’d like to confirm that this specific class of women in the Emarati society isn’t trying to revolt against any customs or act tough or superior. Women are very keen to capitalize on given opportunities in a way that benefits their agendas and people. Their progressive and big personalities shouldn’t been seen as threat or negative trend among men.

My mother had probably given birth to her 10th child before hitting 35 and I salute her for putting so much effort to first staying sane and second raising my siblings and myself at her best. But, I personally have decided to carry on a different path in life because the dynamics of the society have changed. Today I can choose to be whatever I want to be whenever I feel like, I have options. Being a mature single woman is so empowering especially in a male dominant society that is now being introduced to a whole new wave of powerful, independent and beautiful women.

I’m single until further notice, and only I will decide when to give out the notice!

Frankly, for the first time in my life I’m feeling uncomfortable with the whole I’m free preaches and songs. It seems that everyone on planet – except for our beloved 4 /6 legged creatures – has an opinion, or is keen to make a statement or whatever move because it feels so damn reassuring, it reinforces their existence and the fact that they are more than just some ID cards with of course hideous photos. Oh boy, I’m scared of how our the world is becoming a freer place. Yes, freedom scares me because its becoming a passing ticket for the ignorant and insane. No joke, I’m really starting to wonder whether human flesh will be commercially traded to revive our ill world economy. Well I bet a day will come which you and I will witness when some crazy person somewhere will feel so motivated to legalize skin for the sake of dollars and lots of it.

There is a popular and growing misconception about freedom. I don’t want to put any Sartre act here and turn this blog into a theoretical one, but I have felt from the bottom oh my heart the need to hit the brakes and take some good time to look at what is going on around me and most importantly draw clearer finishing lines for freedom. Someone should raise the red flag, and I guess it will be me for now. True, I might have published my share of freedom of speech through lines that many disagreed with, you know lines that could possibly offended you, her or him. But I believe that freedom should not detach itself from logic and nature, because once it does our freedom of speech and freedom of act might cause more harm than any good.

I pass gay law, you vote. Deal?

The growing annual revenues “am talking billions of US dollars” of the pornography market is not a good reason to legalize explicit content in the west side of the world. Qat should not be used in Yemeni gov. offices because some higher authorities fancy being high behind desks from am to pm. Poverty should no longer be taken as an excuse to overlook underage labors in South East Asia. President Barack Obama should not have made whatever comments he made about homosexuality to serve his own political agenda, and of course grandma Madge completely got human nature wrong when she flashed her top right asset at Istanbul’s recent concert!

Funny enough Bob Dylan said “a hero is someone who understands the responsibility that comes with his freedom”. People should be held responsible for their actions regardless of where they come from, what they pray for or what language they speak. We share one world and live in groups, so violating others in the name of freedom is insanity that can’t continue. I’m sick of people arguing about common sense, we all know what is common sense and what is acceptable and what is not. Madge flashing her saggy right xxxxx is no message, its more of stare at it and raise my pay idiots!

How much free is free and what free is radical? Before I go, let’s get things straight, I’m marrying no bulldog!

Excuse my undressed thoughts but sometimes a bit of flesh is a must in order to spot out the many defects in ourselves and beloved society. Men or some good number of similar creatures to men have repeatedly proved to be a failure in understanding what we women really want. I’m not referring to bed fantasies, Belgium chocolate and exotic fruits in some hotel room. Oh no no, that would be what many useless men assume. A woman is an ultra-sensitive creature who is unfortunately repetitively being pressurized by some weird external factors which are to 1 OBEY, 2 LISTEN and 3 NEVER EXPRESS.

The moment poor women express how they truly feel, is exactly when selfish men automatically shut down. I bet you’ve seen the Barbican advert! Men with no shame raise the WE HATE NAGGERS flag! They’ve psychologically played women to the level that some can’t open their hearts to share concerns or even opinions. Obviously women are usually worried about causing disturbance within their households, surroundings… because THEY CARE!

And btw who said women are there to clean after men?

Let me share with you what many women dream about. They dream of that one day when men will finally man up and wash their dirty knickers ALONE instead of dumping them in whatever random basket. They do also dream of that one day when Rashid will move his lousy bum and do some grocery shopping without claiming a COOKIE at 3:00 am. Or maybe clean his plates without feeling less man. Oh trust me we have long list of dreams, but apparently they are just dreams in our diaries till further notice!

It aches me to the core how many Arab women out there feel unwanted, unattended and even worse. But it takes strong women to realize the horrible truth about how their beloved hubbys are definitely not worth the pain. How can any sane woman tolerate the feeling of not being wanted? When a man fails to recognize the needs of this one woman he claims to love there should be something off. When a man can’t make some time for his supposedly lover its just clear that he doesn’t love her enough unless men have their own weird ideologies about relationships and women. I’m all ears! Bottom-line a wise man should be wise enough to come off his horse and embrace Steve’s 3 Ps.

Dear women out there I’m sorry to further intensify things but since when you’re bed and breakfast?

We all come across women from different sizes who’ll starve themselves for months and run miles in whatever marathon to not fit in their favorite pair of jeans or do well in their societies but to simply keep their men visually aroused. Is it a surprise? Let’s not pretend …

The idea of perfection isn’t bad, but the fact that women are perfecting themselves to lock down men requires a shrink. Let’s imagine that you and I are having a quality walk in one of the shopping malls or any busy place. Look around carefully … observe… do you see what I see? Dozens of average unfit men with highly self-maintained ladies. You know the swollen lips, bleached hair and refined French nose. Are men the main source of depression, pressure and early menopause? They’re definitely one of the main and classic reasons of different types of pains we, women go through. Just to confirm my little nose is God made!!

Arab men are in a very urgent need for a reality hit, electric shock or spank on their signature baldheads. Good % of self-admirer men believe that they have the ultimate right – granted from birth – of course to choose and marry Ms. Perfection who they carefully pick out from their mums’ dusted catalogues. Okay, pause for a while and open the (I’m hunting a wife) page in whatever magazine, EXACTLY they want her strawberry and moon-like, and not to forget financially secured. Give me a break Mr. Heartbreaker? You and I know, you’re nothing like Banderas … Are men asking for too much here?

I don’t mind Arab men holding tight to their pretty dolls, or looking for financially secured partners but don’t you think they have to work hard on their physical and spiritual assets to demand perfection and please their women? A very good portion lack the physical assets (no, a good look isn’t subjective). The type of assets you stare at while having your coffee at Valencia St. in Barcelona… Yes you got my point now! Even financially, a man shouldn’t stare at his woman’s pocket, for G’s sake who is the main provider nowadays?

My only issue is that Arab men won’t stop praying for women like the programmed ones from the Stepford Wives who have absolutely no cellulite on their thighs or bums. If you have a saggy belly, why picking on heavy women? I’m not suggesting women to quit going to the gym, but I want fellow men to start realizing that they’re guilty of years of psychological abuse. Women aren’t victims as well, they should start respecting their individuality and skin whether thick or not. Its about time for them to let go the I’m a property mentality!

Who’s the victim really? Generations of women and men to come.

Unfortunately, majority of people in the Arab region don’t feel comfortable hearing what others have to say about issues or sometimes anything or them. When they disagree with you, they misinterpret your lines and accuse you of weird things. Well they say I preach hate. In reality all I do is communicate.

For me blogging means setting my spirit free. The moment I start typing I intentionally disconnect from my fears, worries and any holdbacks. I make sure to stay true to my views regardless of what others might think of me or happen. My goal is to press buttons and interact with readers who might relate to the topic in any way possible.

The current Emarati blogging world is more like a diary type of thing. I honestly hate most of what I see. No disrespect! Who wants to read bedtime stories anyways? If you do it right, blogging is a powerful tool that can easily beat up any well-established local newspaper. I can’t deny newspapers give you a great reach, but there are many restrictions in terms of beefy content. We all know that 99.9% of available Arab media venues filter content. Such a filtration issue restricts freedom of speech and creativity. You can’t jail or semi jail freedom or speech.

Bloggers are their own bosses and that’s exactly why by time blogging will be taking over many traditional means. In countries around the world you’ll find bloggers quitting their corporate jobs and giving their 100% to just blogging. There are many successful cases and I wish that one day we’ll witness such cases in the Arab world and my home country the UAE.

Unfortunately or maybe fortunately, I’m getting somehow a naughty reputation among social media users. I’m glad that I’m being somehow recognized as a hardcore female blogger who is taking the Emarati blogging to a whole different level. Believe it or not, I’ve received admiration notes and hate notes, all sorts of notes. I have even received invitations to participate in researches and focus groups around social media and more.

Here is one funnily sad incident, once someone random got all over me and called to shut down my blog. I wasn’t bothered because at that very moment I knew that I’m doing something right.

Just to confirm, I will not quit blogging, I will not quit my style and I will continue being authentic. I do it dirty but at the least keeping it real, so give me some credit!

Many thanks for the Think Up GCC team. I mean they’ve published my piece …

Think Up, always up!

What makes a culture anyways? People … and our people nowadays do really suck in so many nasty ways. You disagree? I’ll share with you some honey.

Only in Arabia your family name is more important than your sweaty resume. And guess what’s more important than your goddamn last name? Your balance sheet i.e. the steady growth of your bank account. With full honesty “no polishing whatsoever” your ethics and positive outlook mean nothing or at least come second to heavy notes, pile of cash, loads of money. Are you following? I’m talking triple 0 times 12 or more. Take a deep breath, and hey don’t you worry. Sometimes all you need to be accepted is a nice house, sexy car that is more expensive than your “house” and good contacts or just contacts that know those good contacts who you can a** kiss whenever you can and whenever you want to hit the jack!

Technically, thats how we do business in Arabia!

But how many a**** are we willing to kiss to be at the top of the pyramid? One, 2 or none? I bet majority of you will say hell to the many and whatever it takes. If its the case, at least make sure to never catch some nasty contagious STD and gift it back to your hubby – who by the way might already got it!

Oh God, only in Arabia women falling in love outside “the marriage framework” is considered as taboo. You’ll come across that group of supposedly mature men who will furiously flip once they find out that their sisters are in love. Are we stuck in 1000 BC? Is falling in love really a crime? Here is some sick fact; same group of men would already have had multiple sexual relationships outside “the marriage framework” (or inside) with consumed hookers and virgin boys. How sick, hypocrite and selfish can some Arab men be? Exactly. Ladies, fall in love, the weather is sexy and after all its your business.

Have you heard about the KK anger storm? The whole Kim Kardashian pre, during and post visit to Dubai theatrical anger storm made me realize how people have reached a serious level of hypocrisy. They got pissed so pissed from the amount of free media coverage and attention that Kimberly received and started talking about her famous SEX tape. What the hell was that really about? Her explicit tape is irrelevant to her visit to Dubai. I was like dear hypocrites, are we living in the same era? Its a commercial world ( that i might not necessary agree with), stop the virtuous act and do something useful instead. How about complaining about the best gigs weekly reviews on XYZ magazines or upcoming beach parties, well Nasimi beach might ring few bells. Kim is not a walking HIV, but you’re all certainly bunch of messed up hypocrites!

Just to clear out something, I’m not really a pro Kim girl, yeah she’s one hellova pretty girl, etc … but I’m just ANTI hypocrisy. Hypocrisy is like a pamper rash, it irritates the skin and obviously not fun to deal with. Our people should stop blabbing nonsense and start doing right or accept making out with the mess, our f up world!

Here is the thing, you don’t need to a** kiss for the rest of your life. Free your hypocrite spirit and scream free at last.
